This morning I woke up before 4. I’m not sure exactly what time it was because I laid there a long time before deciding to check the time. When I did check it was 4:35. Every ounce of me wanted to go back to sleep but my mind was racing. All I could think about were my plans for the future. More specifically my goals.
I have always had goals, but it seems lately I’ve had more than usual. Maybe it’s because I am getting older and my mind is realizing I may not have that much time left or perhaps it’s because I finally realized I’m capable of achieving almost everything I set my mind too. (I say almost everything because I have been trying to become a skilled guitar player for over 20 years and no amount of effort has made that happen).
There is still so much in life that I want. So many things I have left to see, do and accomplish. So as I am lying in bed with all these thoughts swirling the one thing I keep hearing is Successful people get up.
I have been listening to quite a few different motivational speakers lately as well as reading books on success. The one thing I found they all have in common is rising early to get things done. So while my mind is swirling with all the things I want in life I am also faced with what I need to do to have them. And lying in bed thinking about what I need to do certainly won’t get it done.
So, here I am at 5:50 writing my blog, preparing a bath so I can get a few chapters of reading in before I start my usual 12 hour day at 6:30. Thinking, dreaming, planning, goal setting, even visualizing, these are all great tools to use in your plan of success. But unless you get up and take the necessary action to put those plans to work you will get no further.
What wakes you up early? Where do your thoughts go? What would happen if instead of lying there thinking about it you actually got up and did it?
I will leave you today with this thought. You will never get to where you want to be until you move from where you are. My book and my bath awaits. I hope everyone reading this has a blessed and prosperous day.
